 George Russell was born on the Isabella Indian Reservation near Mt. Pleasant,
Michigan and is an enrolled member of the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Michigan.
He
attended Dansville High School and Spring Arbor College in Michigan and moved to
Phoenix, Arizona after discharge from the US Army.
Russell's occupation was civil engineering and construction. He designed
interstate freeways for consulting engineers and acquired a general engineering
contractor's license to install underground utilities and build roads.
In January 1990, Russell published the 1st editions of the map and book that
complement each other.
The maps and books are sold in over 500 retail outlets such as college book
stores, map stores, museum gift shops, etc.
As an integral part of the marketing plan for these publications, Russell also
speaks at seminars, conferences and trade shows. His presentations are
informative and entertaining.
Russell is active in numerous local Arizona Native American community activities
and also national issues. He a founding member and immediate past President of
the Arizona American Indian Chamber of Commerce; and a member of the Indian Land
Working Group.
