"Indian people are usually perceived as icons of the past, while
information about today's population, tribes and reservations are
essentially ignored."
George Russell - Saginaw Chippewa

The Indian in Question
Before Native America can realistically develop
effective political and economical strategies to deal with a roster of long
standing issues, it is essential to know the answers to some very basic
demographic questions:
 |
What is today's Native American Indian
population? (2.5 million) |
 |
How many tribes still exist? (562 federally
recognized) |
 |
How many reservations are there? (314 in
the continental US) |
 |
Are Native people theoretically programmed for extinction
by blood quantum requirements for tribal membership? |

Mission Statement
Our job is to provide the answers to these
questions by publishing the "Native Reservations" map, the
"Facts of LIfe"
handbook and maintaining this website.
